Mercury-Free Fillings – Cosmetic Dentistry Portland
More than thirty years ago, I made the decision to stop using silver mercury-containing fillings in teeth. In the world of dentistry, this debate is controversial, but ultimately, this choice has proven to be beneficial to my patients. I have instead opted for mercury-free fillings.
One observation I had was that the packaging for silver fillings came with a poison warning. I do not want my employees handing such materials, much less placing them in a patient’s mouth.
Silver fillings contain mercury, which research has shown to give off gases when rubbed during chewing or consuming hot foods. Mercury-free fillings do not pose these risks.
